Tenant Information - Health Living

In November 2002, Lee Housing Association entered into an agreement with Enfield Primary Trust whereby the Association would join the Enfield “Fit For Life” network alongside other local organisations.

Called the Healthy Living Initiative, this pan-network project is broadly aimed at helping people improve their way of life within geographical areas defined by deprivation. A national initiative, it focuses on the need to tackle life-styles in a country with one of the highest incidences of heart disease in the world.

As part of our commitment to this initiative, Lee Housing stages monthly "Healthy Eating Sessions" in tenants homes, where Alan, our professional chef guides small groups of residents in the preparation of simple, yet nutritious and healthy meals. He also educates them in food and kitchen hygiene (i.e. food storage). Whenever possible, we use organic produce and tenants attending these sessions are offered the chance to participate in our fortnightly organic fruit and vegetable delivery service.

We are keen to promote this venture through Terry Smith our dedicated Healthy Living Intiative Administrator. If you are interested in participating in a future "Healthy Eating Session" or would like to benefit from the organic delivery service, Terry would be very pleased to hear from you.
