About Lee Housing Association

Lee HA was established in the 1960s by one of the founder colleges of  Middlesex  University who were concerned to provide decent rented accommodation at affordable prices for students. With the closure of the Enfield campus of the University, Lee HA is now a community based organisation operating mainly within the London Borough of Enfield and though it continues to have a significant focus on providing accommodation for students, it is now the mainstay in providing housing solutions for non-statutory homeless people in the London Borough of Enfield.

Lee HA’s first major scheme, Swan House, was opened in 1979. The Association expanded steadily during the 1980s and by 1984 it became necessary to appoint a manager and full-time staff. The client group was extended to include all young, single people from eighteen years old who had connections in the Enfield area. Lee Housing's stock has been acquired from three sources. Firstly, it has attracted grants from the Housing Corporation and the London Borough of Enfield to build and refurbish properties. Secondly, it has entered into agreements to manage dwellings owned by other parties and, finally, it has purchased properties directly using its own resources.

The Association welcomes comment and involvement from tenants and the public alike. We believe that local people can make a valuable contribution to our future objectives.
